It does that sometimes only because you're gold 1. For example, I'm Sliver 2, I get placed with ranks from bronze to plat. I would maybe think it's skills cause I play like a gold but can never get out of sliver. Maybe you have the skills like a sliver but escaped gold.
its not really much to worry about as you are still ranking up and improving skill wise
gives you time to improve in many differnet areas
instead of putting you into plat lobbies like the guy above lol
