Resources to use work training budget
Hi all,
I get a yearly budget to use for training and I’m not sure what to spend it on. Does anyone have any recommended resources or courses that are paid for?
Happy to hear about anything; I’m a mid level front end engineer looking to go more full stack so something back end focused would be cool. If i can’t find anything I’ll probably buy a copy of Refactoring UI.

refactoring ui is a great thing to buy
i like this book a lot https://www.nodejsdesignpatterns.com/
Node.js Design Patterns
Node.js Design Patterns Third Edition by Mario Casciaro and Luciano...
A book to learn how to design and implement production-grade Node.js applications using proven patterns and techniques
Nice I’ll have a look. I suppose I could use it for a cloud cert as well which might be useful, I could look at a GCP cert maybe
oh also is the budget big enough to go to a conference?
if so do that
way better than any course
Nah sadly not that would’ve been good though
If youre looking into cloud/devops, i think books are amazing, or udemy courses
Id recommend the Phoenix Project/the pragmatic programmer
Thanks Vayne, already familiar with both of those! I’ve picked up a copy of the node.js design patterns book though which is cool.
I’m going to keep an eye out for any quality courses I see but honestly so far the amount of quality free content out there makes it feel almost not worth it. This time last year I was tempted to purchase some of Kent c dodd’s courses but never pulled the trigger
