Been following this thread for the last few days, as a friend of mine can't login to valorant due to this error. Really wish there was some statement or acknowledgement from Valorant that this issue is happening and they are taking care of it (and by that i mean on their social media)

If anyone's upgrading to 10 and has issues these are what worked for me:
- To launch the w10 ISO file I had to use a https://download.microsoft.com/download/0/6/5/0658B1A7-6D2E-474F-BC2C-D69E5B9E9A68/MicrosoftEasyFix51044.msi in prior
- After performing a clean install on the C drive I had to wipe my D drive entirely and then restore it

well it first happened when i was in the middle of a comp. The game suddenly crashed and when i tried to reopen the game it would show this error. it did open after 3 tries around but it would keep crashing every 30 mins or so
so after game i went online and checked for solutions
and thats when i uninstalled vanguard
it didnt crash after that

Windows 10 wont affect you as your gpu is the problem
The only real hope is API extensions moved from windows 8.1 to your windows 7 you can do these yourself and possibly play valorant on your windows 7
(Requires a ton of windows knowledge, reading, tests, blind trial and error, and much more) but its not impossible task

another problem is that i even tried to update and change the vram from bios but it didn't work

VAN 140 means your system was deemed unfit to run the game (99% of the time its because of your operating system)

Windows 8.1 is good! Just optimize it! remove all unwated windows apps and turn off unwated startup apps. Switch windows update service to manuallly. End task the unwanted background tasks that you think are not necessary. After that, the OS occupies the lowest RAM possible. for me, it was 0.8GB.
Now you can run valorant. It runs good.

Error Code Van 140 comes after gamers run the game and access to the game is prohibited. After the game's previous patch in January 2023, the maker declared that gamers with Windows 7 systems would not fit well with the Valorant system prerequisites.

Really ridiculous that riot is not issuing any update of statement. If they don't want to fix it, then say so, or at least give some official answer for those that can't upgrade
It's not really needed. Yes it would be nice to have one, but people must realize that when you have an older operating system, games are going to phase out it's compatibility. It is just common sense.

They just made this announcement; I just upgraded a few days ago but I think it's absolutely ridiculous they led us on saying they were "working on a fix" for 2 months
