SCREEN TEARING - GOES AWAY WITH V-SYNC BUT DON'T WANT INPUT DELAY!
Hi all, I am getting some pretty major screen tearing but it completely goes away with V-SYNC.
I have tried G-Sync as well with no luck, unlimited frame rate, limiting frame rate, reinstalling drivers, locking FPS to refresh, windowed borderless and fullscreen, none of these seem to change anything. The only thing that stops it completely is V-Sync but my buddy told me not to use it because of the input delay.
Anyone else have any solutions?
I have a 3070 and 5800X with 32gb of RAM, 970 Evo NVME.
Thanks!

with vsync on
Here's with locked 144 frames
Here's with vsync
Unlimited frames
simple solution is to buy 144 hz monitor
or just stick to vsync
is v sync input delay that big of an issue
replug ur wires
Yah; it backlogs the render queue in the game. A better option is to limit framerate using the in-game frame limited to be a multiple of the refresh rate. But a higher refresh rate monitor will make tearing less of a thing.
I have v sync and hit my shots
people have high ping (higher full game latency) and hit their shots too. lul.
So ur saying having a little bit of ping does not affect that much? I think we are agreeing
I really do not understand your point
Dunno what ur point is, but mine is that it's worth trying to reduce system latency. Vsync will increase system latency.
My point is that the system latency sacrificed is worth it
I dunno. 10ms is 10ms. And also vsync affects everything down to the game engine. The crap thing is that it blocks the game engine to add backpressure. If you just ask the game engine to render 59-61 fps, it'll have a similar effect, but the engine won't get the backpressure. I think a Riot dev did a video on this. I'll try to find it.
im cardboard 2, I use 2 mags per guy, 10 ms means nothing to me
ULTIMATE GUIDE to Reducing System Latency in VALORANT (2022) from Riot Nu. He simply compares system latency for all settings; it's a pretty neat video.
k
will watch it
Ah the max diff was like 3ms, but still.
In certain game engines, vsync really destroys system latency because of how it delays frames outside of the game engine.
this would be a simple solution although I am using a 144hz monitor which is what I used to record the videos
so that is not the issue I'm afraid
You sure you’ve applied 144 hz on ur windows settings
