Learning a new keyboard layout

Qwerty sucks. Even more does Qwertz (yes, I'm German). Learning an alternative keyboard layout sounds like a great idea to me, already knowing I will regret that of course poohheh I read about "programmer dvorak" which seems to be the general #1 choice for general programming. Still you guys might have own experiences, and maybe know about a more fitting one specifically for JS or even React. Things like the availability of useful keymaps for OS and VS Code are also interesting. What are your thoughts / stories?

do you really find typing speed to be the bottleneck in your process?

My main reason is not typing speed but ease of access for lots of special characters like brackets, slashes, etc. Me as a qwertzer has to use modifier keys way more often than its comfortable

imo learn iso-uk or ansi-us good enough and you can still use a normal computer

my thoughts, maybe switch to an english keyboard layout first and try that, its insane how much more convenient the keyboard layout is for programmers on en layout

I‘m german and recently switched to a american layout keyboard. I think I‘m coding better with but the problem is I sometimes still need to use "öäü" and it’s kinda annoying
