its showing my name in the corner when i talk but theres no sound for other people, and in the agent select it highlights the speaker but theres no lines on the speaker
Could you check the "Input Device", and select the right microphone? It should be fixing it.
ive tried all of them
none work
You tried the loop to hear yourself?
Btw, on Discord (if people hear you on it), which one is the microphone used?
yeah nothing comes up
the default
i havent tried yet
oh wait discord it isnt working either
it says input is comign in but not for discord or val
Well there goes your problem. Are you using a laptop? A webcam? An external microphone?
laptop mic 😔
its a 2 stereo mics built into the top
Usually, laptops have a "constructor" software that manages sound, seems here that it's an intel software, could you try to type "Intel Microphone" in the Windows Search Bar and see if anything comes up?
nah theres nothing
this is what comes up under apps, same with All but removes the web results
Could you show me the list of your microphones?
Otherwise, we're going to try a few things.
sure
Could you try the Realtek Audio one?
ok
recognises it as a mic when i plugged headphones with a mic in ill test sound
*input
and i chose mic in when the box came up
Ok, that's good!
its on the max level
oh wait
Even I have a low result, so idk if that's really interesting to see this result.
Hm?
just did a boost on the realtek console so its 52 now
still no sound in val or discord
What you can do to test the mic more efficiently is:
Go to the Sound options of Windows
Then at the bottom, hit this:
Go to the recording tab.
Select the microphone you want to test.
Right click, properties, listen, and check "Listen to this device", and then bottom right "Apply".
And talk to see if you can hear yourself.
If you can, that means your mic is working! And don't forget to uncheck the box and apply again afterward.
Lmk how that goes.
oh wait that works now thanka
*thanks
but it only works if i set the headphones to mic in, even tho they have a mic and speakers
Test also the intel one then.
discord also doesnt detect input
alr
it shows nothing when i tap it
its the built in mic the intel one im pretty sure
sorry if i keep phrasing my sentences backwards i think while writing them
Dw, it's all good!
nope intel doesnt work
Alright, so Discord doesn't detect input even from the Realtek one?
no
And you tried to listen to the device, and couldn't hear it?
oh i could hear it
i could hear myself
OH HOLD ON
H'm?
you know when realtek asks what you plug in
Yes?
does headset mean mic and headphones
It does.
and headphones just solely headphones
ohhhhhhhhhhh
Usually I'd say, yes.
thankssss
Don't thank me as long as it's not resolved haha!
i think i know whats wrong now
Give it a shot maybe?
nah youve helped a lot
Ofc!
so my main headphones, audio technica m50x (iirc) have sound but they dont have a mic installed as far as i know
and the mics built into my laptop dont detect any sound at all
If they don't have a mic, then use them as headphones in Realtek, could you show me the Realtek interface?
sure
Check the stereo mix?
Ok, alright not what I expected to see! On Discord, could you try to change the input in your audio settings?
In voice and video, then hit "let's check", and verify that you can hear yourself!
it reflects the audio output despite being an input
so basically
Hmmmm, yeah.
i had the valorant backing ost repeating about 40 times getting progressively louder and louder
like a 2012 meme
So that's the problem! 😂
Well, I guess you found what was wrong at least!
lol it is?
yeah
not sure how to fix it
So, sorry if I'm kinda lost, but you still don't have sound right?
Did you try to select the right mic in Discord and test it?
i have sound as in headphones but no audio input, ie no mic input
well ive tried all 3 and they dont work
I'm thinking it might be an app permission issue.
Go to Settings - Privacy - Microphone.
And check if your "Microphone access" is on.
And check that in the list, Valorant and Discord are allowed to use it.
turns out i didnt read the top line
i guess stereo mix is something else
oh
yes
valorant, discord or riot arent in the permission screen
but they do come up like this in the history bit
Riot is in, so that's good, and Discord isn't?
discord is there too
but in those there is no mic sound
eh i gtg ill work it out another time, or just buy a headset with a mic just for discord and games, ill see
thanks for all your help though, you made it wayyyy easier
have a great evening and halloween 👻
