Vercel is like Netlify but different free agreement
he means here 1 free (a member or 1 free month ? )
There are lots of hosting solutions, bigger question is what are you hosting and what needs you have to fill
That's 1 free member. Additional members cost monies
i want to host my website for college it doesn't have database yet but maybe in the future but for now its html , css ,js ,sass ,bootstrap
for a static site you can just use github pages 🙂, the discord link I dropped has some that offer DB/servers

its same limit bandwidth like netlify but i heared that netlify is better
for a college project it don't matter
I doubt bandwidth is something you will need to factor in 😉. If it is you best be looking at paid hosting.
its not a college project as it means
its a website which has all our data resources collected in one website me and my college students all will use it for downloading our materials like pdfs and videos
here is an explanation of what is in the site
If any amount of people will be downing PDF (assuming mbs) and Videos of any length and amount you will probably need paid hosting to accommodate.

If you were to use Netlify or Vercel you would want to have a "bucket" for the data

Github pages would work fine
till you introduce a database then you will need to find a Server/DB provider
Unless you go JamStack (then you can use serverless functions with Netlify or Vercel)
the link of the website from netlify is prettier that github 😄
