how do people run music through their mics
I notice people at meets running music on their mic, how?

By using Voice-meeter Banana Software
Or if you have a headset (headphone + mic) that connect to pc with 3.5mm aux cable [Keep in mind you could play but won't be able to talk off of it unless disabled] Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio -> Recording < & Enable Stereo Mix | Disable Microphone that has default device under it.

you can alternatively use something like SoundPad which is a pure software way of playing sound files down an audio device
